About Teri Applegate

Teri Applegate

Teri Applegate is a Certified Qigong Instructor and Licensed Acupuncturist. She received her bachelor's degree in psychology from Hawaii Pacific University in Honolulu. Teri earned a Master of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine degree at Oregon College of Oriental Medicine (OCOM) in Portland.

Choosing OCOM for its extensive qigong program, Teri served as teaching assistant to her mentor Professor Chen, Hui xian who founded the program there. Upon Professor Chen's retirement, Teri taught qigong to the graduate students and the general public.

In her post-graduate study in Nanjing, China, Teri interned at the Nanjing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the departments of acupuncture and herbal oncology. She interned with Qigong Master Zhang Yu lei, founder of Chinese Wisdom Qigong, at a mental hospital near Chongli, China.

During trips to China in 2000 & 2002, Teri studied Turtle Longevity Qigong directly with Master Wang, Zhe zhong while in Beijing. In 2005, 2006 & 2007, she undertook intensive study with Master Wang to become a lineage holder along with three other Americans.

Also a lineage holder in Soaring Crane Qigong and Chinese Essence Qigong, Teri teaches several qigong systems in the Seattle area. She enjoys training and certifying qigong teachers in these forms.

For over ten years, Teri has offered qigong classes for those with critical and chronic illness, combining qigong theories and Chinese medicine principles. She started qigong programs at two Providence hospitals in Portland, Oregon, teaching there for five years.

With a private practice in Seattle's Greenlake area, her focus is on harmony of body, mind and spirit as she assists people to have an improved state of health and quality of life. Teri helps people in their recovery from chronic ailments or critical illness, and aids those in end stage of disease with pallative care.
